As part of its commitment to guiding youth on their journey of self-discovery and development, the Airbus Foundation has created a new video series called Between Teenagers. It tackles a variety of interdisciplinary themes that blend personal experiences with aspects of citizenship and societal challenges.

Reaching the teenage years can be challenging for both teenagers and their educators. However, it is also a crucial period for young people to discover their identities and roles in the world. Being a teenager today is significantly different from what it was a decade ago. Young people are navigating a changing and uncertain world, dealing with issues like mental health, the rise of disinformation and technological advancements such as artificial intelligence.

Over the past few years, the Airbus Foundation has developed resources to support teenagers and educators during this transitional period. As a complement to the Guide to Becoming Yourself, the Foundation is proud to introduce Between Teenagers, a video series aimed at empowering teenagers to explore complex societal topics and foster meaningful conversations. In this series, five 14- and 15-year-olds from diverse backgrounds come together to discuss important topics. Through their discussions, they share different perspectives and insights, fostering a richer understanding of the world around them.

Prejudices, safety and the future

The Between Teenagers series is designed to be a catalyst for dialogue and personal growth. The three videos aim to spark discussions, encourage critical thinking, and inspire action among young viewers.

The first video in the series, Prejudices and Stereotypes, delves into biases and stereotypes that teenagers may encounter or hold themselves. By promoting self-awareness and empathy, this video encourages the participants to break down barriers and foster more inclusive attitudes.

Stay Safe Online, the second video in the series, addresses the myriad of risks that teenagers face in the digital world. From navigating the web to engaging on social media, the participants highlight their experience with safety online.

The third instalment, My Futures, invites the teenagers to envision their professional and personal futures. In this video they explore career development, the evolving landscape of various industries, and the different life paths they might want to follow. By encouraging reflection and forward-thinking, this episode helps viewers to imagine the future of the world and their place within it.

The videos are available in English, French, German and Spanish.

Educational resources for teachers

With the help of the activity sheets, educators are encouraged to incorporate Between Teenagers into their curricula to enhance classroom discussions on these crucial topics. The series serves as a valuable resource for teachers seeking to engage students in conversations about prejudice, online safety, and future aspirations. By integrating these videos into lessons, educators can facilitate deeper understanding and help students develop essential life skills.

The Airbus Foundation believes in the power of youth to shape the future. Through initiatives like Between Teenagers, it is  committed to supporting the development of informed, engaged, and compassionate global citizens.
